COMPUTER DOCTOR -5- HARD DISK CHECKING

Today we will see one important post. Hard disk is important to save our files. Did you know how files are save in hard disk?. Computer understand only '1' and '0' only. We know all this information. Hard disk is electronic material . Then how our files are save in that electronic material?. Why computer understand only '0' and '1' only? How it understand '0' and '1'?. Hard disk contains lot of cells. That is, collections of cells is hard disk. Like that, cells have lot of blocks. That is, lot of blocks is cells. These blocks are filled with ' neuron' are called '1'. Blocks which are not filled by 'neuron' is called '0'. In this way our files are save in hard disk. Simply we can say, 1 means 'voltage' is present. '0' means 'voltage' is not present. In this way system understand '0' and '1'. Some blocks are not work properly due to we may used that block lot of time or problem while manufacture (It happen rarely) and much more reasons. So our os not use this blocks in hard disk when it damaged. That blocks are called 'CLUSTERS'. To avoid this clusters, we need to check hard disk properly. Do this check at least one time every month.

How to do this hard disk check?

Choose Hard drive, Right click on it, click properties, click Tools tab, now you can able to see 'Error Checking'. Now click button 'check now'. By click 'start' button, check the hard disk default and processed quickly. To check hard disk advanced, Tick that two check box and then click Start button. But this method take long time nearly more than one hour. Because it check deeply. To help see the picture provided below.

Did you know about Google Lab? Its Providing exciting additional features to our Gmail. Most of the Google gmail users don't know this method. Let us see some important Google lab feature.

Today we will see 'PREVIEW YOUR IN-BOX'. What is Preview your in-box? We can able to see what are the emails we get in our in-box before its loading. When you log in your email, it simply showing 'loading' and ' progress bar' only. But if you change your setting, it will show what are the mails are there in our in-box before it load. Some time we except urgently email from any company or any friend. At the time if gmail loads very slowly means? Surely its irritating. If you set this, you can able to see what are the mails are came to our in-box before it loading. Surely it will help to you.

How to set this ?

Open your gmail account. At the top, Right side you can able to see 'settings', click it. Now click 'LABS' tab. Scroll it. you can able to see the preview in box part. (To Help see the above picture ) Now choose 'enable'. Finally click 'save changes'.

Hi..Today we will see how to put your name in boot screen. Here I created boot screen in the name of blog name. Like that you can put your name in boot skin and make your friends to wonder. To do this, follow the steps below. Its very very easy to do. Follow the steps below i provided. Surely your friends will wonder. See the picture provided below.Before we do this, we need one software called 'Tuneup Utility'.

DOWNLOAD TUNEUP UTILITY HERE

Tuneup utility is Trial ware. But it provide to use free for ‘30’ days in tuneup 2010, But now, latest version tuneup 2011 is available with 15 days trail. Now install Tune up 2010 software (Because, Trial days have more days ) . Download it and install.

First we need to create one image in your name. Creating boot skin in black and white color provided better effect.Don’t use any other color else it doesn't provide good look. First open ‘Paint’. Then type your name as I told in below picture. Finally save the image in desktop or any other place . While creating image in your name remember the points what I told in below picture.

After installing tuneup utility, Click start, Then click All programs, Then click Tuneup Utilities, Then click All functions, Finally click ‘ Tuneup styler’. Now you can able to see ‘select a task’. Below that, click ‘change the windows xp boot screen, and create or download new boot screens’. Now click 'create new'. Now one window will be open. Then follow the step below i provided. Finally select the picture and click apply. Restart your computer, your name will appear while booting. Now you get wonder.

TRICKS -5- YOUR FACE IN PENDRIVE ICON

Today we will see one interesting post... How to change the pen drive icon into your face. Follow the step provided below. Here i divided into 4 steps. Very easy to do and make your friends to wonder using this trick.

STEP 1: CREATING YOUR FACE

First open your photo and CROP (Cut your head only) your head using Picasa or Ms word or Ms picture manager and save it as 'png' format. Background color 'WHITE' is better. To make background in white color use 'ERASER' option present in 'MS PAINT'. Finally you get your head only and save it as 'png' format.

STEP:2 CONVERTING INTO ICON

Now you need to convert your 'png' file format into 'ico' format. There are lot software available in Net to convert 'ico' format. Most of the 'ico' converter software easily accept the 'png' format. That is the reason why i told save the image in 'png' format. You can get more 'ico' converter in net like imagicon etc. or click here to convert 'png' to 'ico' converter. Now Finally you get your head in icon format. Ok now copy that icon and paste into your pen-drive.

STEP 3: WORKING WITH NOTEPAD

Now open 'NOTEPAD'. Type the below command by the following condition.

label=Hari
Icon=iconname.ico

Here 'Hari' is a pen-drive name. So give your name here. 'icon name' is a your icon name. So give your icon name with extension ( That is .ico).

STEP 4: FINAL STAGE

Remember your icon must present in your pen-drive. Finally save the notepad in your pen-drive in the name of "autorun.inf". Here Double apostrophe is must while save in that notepad. Finally ensure that two files icon and "autorun.inf" are present in your pen-drive. Hide the icon and auto-run files in your pen-drive. Now remove your pen-drive from system. Then insert your pen-drive. Now your face will appear in pen-drive icon. Make your friends in wonder.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

1) If you format that pendrive means icon will not appear. So keep your icon file and notepad file safely in your system for future use.

2) Some antivirus like avira etc.. are block the autorun while insert the pendrive. At that time unable to view your photo.

Now select 'forward a copy of incoming mail'. and click save changes. Now you get mail alert in your mobile. This email alert is free.

Consider your are in offline ( That is not use an system). You are in bus. At the time you expecting one important mail id. Then how will you know whether it is come or not. Like this situation Email alert is really useful to you.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Mail alert will expire automatically after 15 days from the date of activate. So you need to activate every 15 days. Don't like to get Email alert means just 'Deactivate'.

SPEED YOUR COMPUTER -3- START UP

Already we saw 2 methods to improve the speed of computer. Today we see sbout How to remove the ' START UP' exe files. Most of Persons don't know this method. But this is the one of the reason to reduce the speed of the system.

What is 'START UP'?

When you log on the system some programs automatically start to load. For example, you can see this option while installing the software. That is 'start up at system'. If you put tick mark in check box, whenever you log in the system, that exe file also automatically start to execute. So this is the reason windows show the desktop slowly. You can able to see this option like IDM, Gtalk etc.

How to Remove it?

Click Start, All programs, Start-up. In that start up you can see some exe files which is load while OS loading. Just select the all files and remove it. Some files are not present in that. You need to uncheck that 'Tick' using particular software. While installing any software uncheck that 'Tick' and increase your system. To help see the below picture. Do 'Tick' which i mentioned below. Now you will able to see the system start in very speed. Here i provided only for example. Some applications works background and unable to find. So use tune up utility program and uu check the unwanted startup programs to increase speed of the system.

Concentrate on the 4 small dots in the middle of the picture for about 30 to 40 seconds. Then take a look at a wall near you ( any smooth, single colored surface, white color is better) or one white paper & see that. Now you will see a circle of light developing. Start blinking your eyes a couple of times and you will see a figure emerging... Concentrate on that wall /paper slowly... what do you see? UNBELIEVABLE????? Enjoy. FIRE FOX ADDON-3- COLOR TAB

Hi... Now i say one important add-on that will surely helpful to you. While browsing we open lot of 'TAB' s and browse it. Sometime it conflict to open particular tab. Showing differ color is useful to ours. To show the tabs in different color , this add-on will useful. Surely you will like this and helpful to you. For example see the picture provided in Right side. Click the below link. Then you will be redirected to web page and then click 'add to Firefox'. Then install and Restart the Browser. You have more option to change. Tools-> Add-on-> Choose color tab add on. you can make changes in color tab add on. Don't like it means you can disable. To remove just click uninstall button.

TRICKS -4- PROBLEM IN FORMATTING PENDRIVE?

Some times pen-drive provide problem, for example while copying file displays the error message like ' Cannot copy files and folders, drive is write protected. Remove write protection or use another disk'. This message display while formatting also. Reason is virus. It changes the value present in Registry.This error is also called an ' Write protected'. Ok Now we see how to remove this 'write protected'.

Click Start, Then choose Run. Now Type the below code . Then press enter.

reg add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies" /t Reg_dword /v WriteProtect /f /d 0

Then Remove the pen drive and insert again. Now its work properly. OK would you like to give "write protected" to your pen-drive? If you like it means use the below code.

reg add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies" /t Reg_dword /v WriteProtect /f /d 1

After use the above code, if pen drive is not change to write protected means, Restart your system and then insert the pen-drive.

Still Problem in formatting pen-drive?

Click Start and choose Run. Type 'cmd' and press enter. Now type this command to format the pen-drive.

Format/x H: -----> Here 'H' is Pen-drive name.

TIP

Ok Try Different OS like Vista, Windows 7 etc. First Insert the pen-drive. DON'T OPEN / ENTER INTO THAT PEN-DRIVE. Right click in that pen drive icon. Click Format.
