If you copy any files from cd or pendrive to hard disk, Os save that file in different part of hard disk (Unable to view) . For example, If you install any Big software like Maya, VB DOT NET etc, OS install in hard disk (Mostly 'C' Drive ) by SPLITTING that software and save into different part of hard disk. While accessing that file 'OS' read that every file from different place from hard disk. This is the one of the reason system become to slow. So we need to ALIGN that files. To align we need De-fragment software.

To open Disk Defragmenter, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Disk Defragmenter.
HOW TO DEFRAGMENT THE HARD DISK?
First Choose the Drive which you like to defragment. Then click Analyze. Then click Defragment. After analyzing the drive they will show a one report whether defragment is require or not. If it require means click Defragment button else no need to defragment. More defragment program is available in net. Some programs are Defraggler, Disk keeper etc.
